Below is an outline of the entire campaigns in detail. Amazon Best Seller Rank Spiking
BSR is directly related to organic rankings, the more sales you can make in a given period, the higher your product will rank inside of Amazon’s A9 Algorithm. Sales with a discount larger than 80% do not increase organic rankings, this is one of the elements that Amazon changed in 2017.
In late 2017 we rebuilt our entire Amazon strategy and haven’t failed to rank a product since. The process itself involves finding influencers and offering them products for free in return for a feature in their social accounts and on their blogs. We do this for 10 major bloggers and between 25-50 social influencers.
This increases the best seller rank of the product usually to the point where it’s featured in “movers and shakers” in it’s specific category.
But the primary goal here is just to get the products into the hands of the influencers (this process itself doesn’t cause massive increases in rankings but does help achieve the “best seller” badge as well as featuring the product in the best sellers and movers and shakers in the category, which leads to organic sales.
From here we utilise the synergy between content marketing & our link building outreach & PR marketing arm to align featured guest posts and PR mentions of the product (as well as the website which improves the organic ranking element mentioned below.)
Everything inside of Amazon is about TIMING. Generating 1,000 sales a month is meaningless if the average sales of the top 5 listings is 10,000 sales a month. Instead what we need to achieve is to spike sales to a point above the top-ranking competitor products. We do this by leveraging 4 core elements at the same time; influencer posts, paid advertising campaigns, email list providers & timed content marketing.
The end result is a massive spike in real sales for a period of anywhere from 7-30 days, resulting in a large increase in organic keyword rankings for that specific product listing. Doing this for multiple products at once in many cases.
Another strategy we implement is the paid content placement route. For example as timing is everything we pay for a spot in popular large traffic websites for a period of 7-14 days. Site’s that are already attracting super-hot traffic for that type of product. For example sites such as: https://myawesomebeauty.com/best-vitamin-c-serum/ (vitamin C niche) or https://www.thesleepjudge.com/best-mattress-for-side-sleepers/ (mattress niche). These are sites built by people in my industry and even some close personal friends of mine. The strategy we use is to simply ask them to feature our products instead of competitors and pay them a set fee (usually between £500-1,500 a month depending on the product competition) to feature the product. We then rotate your products each month and hence spike best seller rank for each individual product. This is a strategy I haven’t seen any other Amazon marketing agency implement in the slightest.
We work with our network of relevant influencers and reaching out to these in a way based on value exchange. We have a 100% success rate of product placement with influencers who have amassed large (and real) followings on their blogs, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Over the past 2 years we’ve been a network of hundreds of high quality influencers interested in testing & reviewing products from our clients.
When a new client comes on-board we select the 20 most authoritative and relevant influencers in our network and reach out to these individuals asking if they would like to collaborate.
The bloggers write full reviews on their own blog, link to your E-Commerce website & your Amazon listing page. Each blog also runs a competition to give away the same product to one of their readers. They are also able to offer a limited flash sale to their readers which often drives a lot of organic sales.
The blog reviews are important when taking into account SEO, they also are super useful to list on your website to help visitors make buying decisions, over 75% of all buying decisions online are made by reading independent reviews.
Working with a further 200 social and shopping influencers, we are able to further boost your Amazon listing by spreading redemptions to match high ranked sellers and then once they have tested your product, we drive them to write reviews on a mix of platforms, such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and your own E-Commerce website. This will boost all social media followings and your Google ratings rank. And most importantly, this will drive sales conversions exponentially.
We set up everything and oversee the campaign which also results in a number of non-sales KPI Increases, such as:
- New visitors to your website.
- Backlinks to your website.
- Product reviews on your website.
- Product reviews to marketplace listings you sell on (if tos allow)
- New visitors to the Amazon product page.
- Email opt-ins.
- Social attention with hashtags associated to your brand/product.
- Social media followers & fans.
- Shares from the Amazon listing page itself.
- Third party authoritative content you can use on your website and branding
- Third party authoritative social media content to re-share
- UK celebrity gifting, this can often result in Tweets from famous people with millions of followers
Implementing these techniques alongside a targeted paid advertising campaign leads to consistent increase in real sales and hence an increase in organic rankings across the board. What we do in our full Ecommerce marketing campaigns is rotate the products used as and when needed. For example, usually grouping things in 3s.
Building a brand on Amazon is good but it limits profitability and having just Amazon as a sales channel is also an expensive way to do business long term. Our technical SEO has helped close to 200 businesses rank in Google including Ecommerce stores we’ve helped take from mid-6 figures a year to over 2M/year whilst at the same time allowing the client to reduce adword spend hence increasing profit margins by 13% in that period.
Below is an itemised approach to how we do this.
Full Technical Website Audit
This is the baseline we create custom campaigns from. A technical audit allows our team to understand what elements are holding the website back, what could be improved and what specific elements which if improved, would result in the largest ROI boost. From this information we build our custom project management plan.
Google Analytics Audit
Google analytics is an incredibly powerful SEO tool, although many businesses under-utilise its features and only look into the basic reporting options. In the Google Analytics Audit we determine what specific elements on the site are ranking already and reverse engineer the search terms (in the next stage) associated with this landing page. As a result we can build out a custom “quick-wins” campaign. This is a mini SEO campaign that focuses on increasing the rankings of keywords already partially ranking (on page 2 for example) and then pushing those on-to page one in a very short amount of time.
Google Search Console Audit
A deep dive into the technical elements of the website and analysing the site based on the data pulled from Google directly. In the search console audit we analyse if any penalties, crawl issues or negative linking is holding the site back. This is then built into the project management for the campaign if any issues arise.
Website Quality Audit
A website quality audit is a user focused audit analysing the overall quality of a site. This includes mobile responsiveness, site speed, https integration, site structure and other auditing that highlights any technical user experience based issues that could even be holding rankings back.
Advanced Keyword Research
Advancing keyword analysis campaign that under-covers the most profitable short and long term keywords the site should be ranking for. Inside this document we also build higher funnel style keywords for content pieces later down the line. Our keyword research techniques involve the use of a number of high level tools not yet available to the market.
Keyword Gap Analysis
The keyword gap analysis is a report that analyses potential gaps in the search results where we could create an authority piece of content and achieve rankings relatively quickly and easily. The gap analysis works extremely well when auditing existing pieces of content and changing the overall focus of that piece to target the newly associated keywords.
Advanced Analytical Reporting
We’ve built our own custom reporting suit inside of Google data studios. This pulls data directly from Google analytics & Google search console and is delivered monthly to show the positive movement of the site.
Conversion Rate Optimisation Audit
An advanced audit that outlines some of the technical CRO based recommendations for your specific website. These CRO elements when implemented increase website conversions in 20-50% in many cases from simple, user focused techniques. The CRO audit outlines what and how to implement these changes.
Full competition analysis of top ranking competitor websites. This document allows us to determine what and more important how specific competitors are ranking their website. Using this data we then reverse engineer our link acquisition and content marketing focuses and simply out-do the existing competitors using a very data driven approach.
Link Building Strategy Creation
Link building is one of the most important elements to a successful SEO campaign, something that 99% of digital agencies and businesses do incorrectly or completely overlook. Based on the above audits and analysis we build long term quality link building strategies that generate dozens of high quality backlinks. These result in a drastic increase in your organic search rankings and when mixed with perfect technical SEO and content marketing result in a highly profitable campaign.
A content audit is an analysis of the existing content already on a website. This audit determines what actions to take on specific pieces of content, usually resulting in one of four core actions; delete and 301, leave (no action), on-page optimisation improvements or full content re-build and link building. The content audit directly feeds into the link building strategy and content topic calendar creation.
Full Site Structure Creation
Compiling all the data from all above audits and reports we integrate the perfect site structure and begin to re-build the technical elements of the site. Based on the information from the competition analysis and technical SEO audit this stage alone has seen increases of 400% for large clients already generating a high amount of search traffic.
Full On-page Optimisation
From the site structure we then dive into each individual page and post, optimising each individual section with our agency’s perfected on-page optimisation checklist. Optimisation of all pages including content pieces, inner service/product pages and any landing pages already generating traffic, these processes also include a deep dive into internal linking of a website and keyword cannibalisation.
3-8 Core Content Marketing Piece Creations
This content is built based on the data pulled from all audits as well as custom content marketing strategy processes we’ve built in-house. The content pieces are then used as linkable assets which we can build links to directly as this is more efficient and effective than trying to build links directly to a websites products/services or inner pages (these are seen as commercial so individuals do not link to them.) These pieces are usually guide style pieces around 3,000 words long that rank in Google for higher funnel related keywords.
3-8 Separate Link Building Campaigns
Based on the content above we build 3-8 custom link building campaigns and individually target prospects and leads geared to that content piece.
Reporting & Management
Each month you will receive a full report with all information about the progress of the campaign. This includes the performance of traffic, revenue, goal tracking, core keyword targets and more general overall keyword increases. There will be sections about new Google updates, what’s needed on your side to help with the campaign, and the goals for the following month ahead.
SEO, Link Building, Social & The Synergy with Amazon
One of the major reasons I recommend these campaigns to clients is the amount of synergy between marketing types. We’ve helped clients generate 600% increase in organic revenue within 2 years through Google and rank hundreds of products inside Amazon but connecting the two elements is where exponential profits would occur, and a real strong brand be created as one strategy adds value to the others.
